Question

So my pregnancy has been going better lately, and I'm finally into the double digits with how many days I have left and besides the killer backaches and uncomfortable growing stomach, I am actually feeling not too terrible. But this week, I have been a little disappointed because I was running a couple of days ago and my stomach started hurting pretty bad. I had to stop and walk the rest of the way. The same thing happened the next day, so I had to walk some more. Basically, I feel like I have to only walk now. It makes me a little sad, but I was wondering is that normal that around this time to cut back? I feel like its almost too early to only be walking, but I don't want to hurt myself or the baby. I was wondering what everyone else has done, and/or if this is too early (I guess I'm 28 weeks now) to be cutting back a little?

Yay! You are still so small, I would think that it is just round ligament pain from the baby stretching, growing, and your uterus moving up. I got this around 20 weeks, but i practically looked full term at 20 weeks. I would take it easy, maybe start walking and jogging. The pain should go away after like 2 weeks, but if it doesnt, its just because she is growing a ton :)

Ariel--I don't know, but I know Lance. I hope it's okay that check your blog every once in a while. When I was about as far along as you are I also had to stop working out as hard. Every time I would run, or even walk fast, I would start having contractions. That could be what your stomach ache was. It's hard to tell what contractions are when you've never felt them before.

Just listen to your body. If you've been feeling well otherwise, but the exercise makes you sick it's probably a sign that you need to slow it down.

(Sorry I've offered advice when I don't know you, but I've had two kids and have also had some trouble pregnancies so I take this stuff really seriously)

I don't know first hand but from stuff i've been reading about pregnancy a lot of women have to take it easy the last trimester.

Try wrapping your belly with those cloth bandages used to wrap sprained ankles. Wrap it tight enough that it supports your belly, especially the area underneath your belly button. That always helped me.

I had the exact same thing happen to me at about the same week too! I was so heartbroken, but it felt like a weird cramping when I would run. Unfortunately I had to stop running, but doing the elliptical was fine and of course the hot speed walking worked too. You look awesome! Do you get to find out what you are having yet, or did I miss that blog?

Hey- Ya- about this time is when you should start doing spin or something, like Milli said too, it happens around 6 months and for most of us we need to find alternate activities...you look awesome though, and I can totallay picture you as a speed walker :)

Ariel, glad to hear you are feeling better, but that is frustrating about the running thing. I usually had to stop playing soccer by the third trimester. I know it is much more of a contact sport than running too, BUT the stomach getting bigger makes it hard to run as much. Sounds like the eliptical is a good idea. Wii Fit is a work out for me! and the wrapping your belly I hear works too, they actually make belly supports too, like wrapping it. Good luck!! Oh! and your body will tell you if you should take it easy, so listen to what it wants!! (but it doesn't hurt to try things differently)

Yeah that sounds about the time I stopped also with Cade. I remember one time I went out and started to cramp so bad i had to sit down, far away from home, no phone, that was the sign I was done running. You look great, listen to your body, it's not worth it sometimes. You'll bounce back fast.

Hello you are pregnant. I only run if a dog is chasing me and that is when I am not prego. So I would say LISTEN to your BODY and WALK. It will be okay. You will be out there jogging before you know it...but only this time it will be those lactating boobs that will hurt...Oh the joys of motherhood.

That is fun you do a "Turkey Trot" on Thanksgiving. We didn't do one this year, but my family has a Thanksgiving race after dinner, but before the pies. The race is usually under a mile and I don't know when the last time was that I participated in it! Isn't it nice to be on the tail-end of your pregnancy?! That is great! For me it seems like I was pregnant forever, and then BOOM, the kid is walking and what not! Merry Christmas to you both!
